Los Angeles Lakers
If Millsap is intent on chasing a championship after 14 seasons in the league, the Lakers stand as a landing spot. The idea of pushing Anthony Davis over to center doesn’t seem ideal. But Millsap can take on particularly tough big men on the defensive end, perhaps along with Dwight Howard and/JaVale McGee. It’s not as if Nikola Jokic is an especially good defensive player, and Millsap has been pretty stout and a difference maker playing alongside him. Davis is a good shot blocker, at minimum, so he and Millsap could be quite good as a defensive tandem.
Millsap’s asking price will go a long way toward determining where he lands. On any notion he’ll take a discount, the Lakers should have interest until or unless they are priced out.
