Challenged Elite Teams

Although they’ve lost to a lot of elite teams this year, they have also made their mark against the likes of Dallas and both the LA teams. In late February, Memphis beat the Lakers by 17 points at home behind Morant’s 27 points, and prior to that, they also defeated a very good Dallas team by 14 points.

Over the course of this season, they’ve also beat Denver, Houston, Miami, and the Clippers. Their victory over Doc Rivers’ team was a convincing one too, beating them by 26 points on the road. Even when they lost to the Lakers for example on other occasions, they were usually close contests.

Memphis tends to give up a lot of points per game, but we have to remember how young this team still is. They’re showing a lot of promise and the fact they can beat this many really solid teams is a testament to the talent they do have on their roster.

It’s going to take time for them to all grow and become better on the defensive end as well because as we know, defense wins championships. But all in all, the Grizzlies have opened many eyes across the association this season and deserve the eight seed.

There is definitely a lot to look forward to for Memphis Grizzlies fans in the coming years with a talented young core ready to take this team to new heights.
