1. Everyone Needs a Robin
Coupled with floor spacing and an affordable salary, the Heat needs to trade for Kevin Love because of how he will complement Butler.
Although, Love received a lot of slack while playing alongside LeBron James and Kyrie Irving he actually played well. Think about it, the UCLA product was the number one option while playing with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
After being traded to the Cavaliers, Love had to learn how to adjust to the play of two ball dominate players. He was also forced to be more of a spot-up shooter.
The 6-foot-8 forward can play with his back to the basket, spot up and shoot and take defenders off the dribble occasionally. His game would blend well with Butler who is fiery, tough and can dominate on both sides of the ball.
One aspect of Love’s game is his passing where he can be lethal. The overhead pass is a lost art and he is one of the few players who execute the pass with accuracy.
Butler and Love can run the pick-and-roll and cause matchup nightmares for smaller teams. Butler is the more talented player but he can’t do it by himself. Plus Love has the championship experience and knows what it takes to win it all.
A change in scenery will help Love’s overall game and performance. The forward is having a solid season where he is averaging 17.6 points, 9.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.
Right now, the season is on hold and there is uncertainty if it will return but one thing is for sure Miami will have a busy offseason.
