In addition to floor spacing, the Heat should pursue Kevin Love because of his current contract. He is under contract until the summer of 2023 and he will also turn 35 that year.

Often times, teams break the bank in free agency and then lose out on adding more talent. If Riley seeks this trade there is a possibility they can avoid having to break the bank during the summer.


Riley always sees the bigger picture and focuses on finding multiple situations that benefit the present and future. Trading for Love is a great way to acquire talent without having to pay more money.

Clearly the trade will be hard to complete because of the Heat’s salary cap but that just mean’s a third team will be needed.

Love is still under his 4-year $120M extension that he signed in 2018. Considering how the max and supermax deals have increased this is an affordable salary for Miami to take on.
