Potential Change in Playoff Format

The previous two reasons all centered around the concept of Houston’s ability to enter the playoffs, with the potential of being more suited to compete.

As much as the break itself could help them prepare, the potential change in playoff format could play to their benefit as well.

The league is looking at all their options, and putting every possibility on the table in order to make play resume. The most recent idea which seems promising is the continuation of the season taking place at Disney Land in Orlando.

On top of the location, the league has been looking at how they are going to format the season and the playoffs. Similar to the location, every possibility is up for grabs in regards to the playoff format.

Even though the Rockets could be more prepared for the playoffs this year with the break, things don’t always go as planned. That’s why a potential configuration change in how they playoffs are assembled, could very-well play into the Rockets favor.

The biggest issue with Houston, has always been that their offense is so one-dimensional, that it becomes easy for teams to plan for. Now that the playoffs could possibly be best out of five, best out of three, or dare I even say, single elimination for certain parts, teams will have less opportunity to invent the perfect game plan to combat the Rockets.

With all the talent Houston has, and with how unique they are, it’s difficult to face-off against them at first glance. Now that teams could have even less time to grow a strategy, we could be seeing the best playoff run from the Rockets since their difficult game seven loss to the Golden State Warriors.
