Can Harden And Westbrook Lead Houston To A Title?

It’s absolutely crucial that Houston adds an experienced big to their starting lineup this offseason as previously mentioned. But offensively, can two of the game’s best players take the Rockets to the NBA Finals in the near future?

In order to do so, they would have to get by both of the LA teams, which is a task in and of itself. But in their first season together, Harden and Westbrook were productive, averaging 62 of Houston’s 118.1 points per contest. Westbrook was enjoying his highest-scoring season since the 2016-17 campaign, averaging 27.5 points. Harden, meanwhile, was dropping 34.4 per night.

Both of these players are experienced when it comes to playoff basketball. However, Russ has had more success on the big stage. It’s going to take more than just these two to win a Larry O’Brien trophy though.

The team must become a lot better defensively and again, that boils down to a solid center coming in during the offseason, and Harden/Westbrook tightening up their defense as well. Based on Houston’s offensive output, they would be top three team in the Western Conference if they played better on both ends of the court.

But with these two superstars leading the way, anything is possible for this team in 2020-21 if they make the right decisions this offseason.
