Fizdale was fired by the Knicks back in December, with a 4-18 record, which is a sign of that franchise’s dysfunction more than his shortcomings as a coach. He was also fired by the Memphis Grizzlies early in the 2017-18 season (19 games in), amid indications of a poor relationship with star center Marc Gasol.

But more broadly Fizdale has a reputation as a player’s coach, with open and ringing endorsements from LeBron James and Dwyane Wade from his time as an assistant with the Miami Heat.

Since the Nets obviously will have two high maintenance stars in place, Fizdale’s deteriorated relationship with Gasol in Memphis is cause for concern. But on the surface he should be a candidate for more than one head coaching job this offseason.
