Vaughn will step in Brooklyn’s interim head coach for the rest of the season, presumably with some chance to secure the permanent post.
Over two-plus seasons as head coach of the Orlando Magic (2012-2015), Vaughn posted a .269 winning percentage (58-158 record). That’s obviously not great, but a mismanaged roster did Vaughn no favors. Even minus Irving and Durant, the final 20 games of this regular season and any subsequent playoff showing will be a better indicator of Vaughn’s head coaching ability.
