Rajon Rondo
To be fair, this is not Rondo’s fault that he’s on this list. With LeBron James doing a majority of the ball-handling duties for the Lakers, coach Frank Vogel has taken what Rondo does best and handicapped him. At times, it’s as if he’s never watched Rondon play. Rondo, for his career, has averaged 10.3 points, 8.3 assists, and 4.8 rebounds per game. So, why does he not have the ball in his hands setting up the offense?
James is a great player but when the playoffs arrive he needs to be fresh. Playing him as a point forward is great for the regular season but the minute the Lakers run into a team they have to face at least four games out of seven, adjustments will be made and then what? On the season, Rondo is averaging 7.8 points, 5.3 assists, and 3.3 rebounds while playing 21.0 minutes per game. This needs to change.
In order for Rondo to make a big difference, the Lakers will have to change their approach. A PG has one job and that’s to lead the point of attack. Where Rondo is special is that he can still do it on both ends of the court.
