3. Schroder Can Provide a Real Impact
There is a real need for the Minnesota Timberwolves to add more players that can penetrate the lane and knock down open shots. Dennis Schroder is a player that can provide both areas and with a stretch-five likes Karl-Anthony Towns, those traits are maximized.
After trading away Jeff Teague, the Timberwolves lost an effective pick-and-roll ball handler that can orchestrate a half-court offense. Acquiring Schroder would help fill the void in the initiation department while also providing another reliable isolation threat.
There is a clear need for the Timberwolves to continue to add more reliable spot-up shooters as they have an output of just 0.941 PPP (25th) in this area. Schroder would bring real improvement both directly through catch-and-shoot and by setting up teammates for attempts of their own.
It would help the Timberwolves’ defense to have the speed and quickness Schroder brings to the table. This is something they currently lack and it is important to keep up with the league’s top players at the point guard position., especially without reliable rim protection.
