Oklahoma City Thunder: 2 players who would be ideal trade deadline targets

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

Robert Covington, Small Forward, Minnesota Timberwolves

Minnesota has been shopping Robert Covington in trade talks over the last few weeks and quite a few teams have had interest. If the Thunder want to make a push, they should absolutely have interest in acquiring him themselves.

Covington would provide the Thunder with a three-point threat and a defensive presence. Those are the exact things that Oklahoma City needs. It won’t be cheap to acquire him, but they should definitely look into the option.

So far this season with Minnesota, Covington has averaged 12.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.7 steals, and 1.2 assists. He has shot 43.4 percent from the field overall and has knocked down 34.5 percent of his three-point attempts.

Those numbers show why the Thunder should have interest in Covington. Minnesota is open to dealing him and it will be interesting to see where he lands.
