Zion Williamson hilariously explains falling asleep on the Pelicans’ bench

Zion Williamson is set to make his NBA debut with the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night against the San Antonio Spurs. This is the moment NBA fans have been waiting for. Williamson has been touted as the best prospect since LeBron James by many, and he has big-time expectations to fulfill.

Recently, Williamson made headlines for the wrong reason. He was caught falling asleep on the bench during a Pelicans game.

In a quote shared by Andrew Lopez of ESPN, Williamson found a way to hilariously explain what fans saw.

Meditation is a key thing for many professional athletes. But, we’re sorry Zion, you were absolutely taking a nap.

Either way, Williamson has bigger things to worry about than the media and fans ripping him for taking a nap on the bench. He has a team to help turn their season around. Williamson also has a league hungry to get after him and prove the hype wrong.

New Orleans has a ton of talent on their roster, but they are just 17-27 on the season. There is still time to turn things around, but the Pelicans need their rookie star to come in and play the role of savior. If he can do that, the hype is going to skyrocket.
