2. More Opportunity for Young Players
There is no denying that Derrick Rose has been playing very well for the Detroit Pistons this season. However, being the team’s leader in field goal attempts per game (15.1) is taking away shots from young players.
Maximizing the opportunities for Luke Kennard and Sekou Doumbouya to make plays with the basketball is the best way to accelerate their development. They’d be able to play through mistakes more and better round out their skill-sets.
The fact that Rose recently requested a larger role with the Pistons only further justifies the need to prioritize giving opportunities for young players. The timelines for Rose and Detroit just don’t line up to make him their top priority over recent lottery picks.
