3. Doesn’t Fit a Rebuilding Timeline
With Derrick Rose being 31-years-old, it makes the most sense for the Detroit Pistons to get value for him before undergoing a full rebuild. By the time they are ready to compete, it will be way too late to involve Rose.
It will only become more difficult for Rose to be apart of a winning situation with the Pistons if they end up trading Andre Drummond. There simply aren’t enough foundational pieces in Detroit to reach the point where they stack up with the top teams in the Eastern Conference.
The most logical outcome for Rose and the Pistons is a mutual decision to find a contender to acquire him. While he is happy with his situation in Detroit, he is a free agent after this season and there is a risk he departs for nothing, too.
