1. Myles Turner Would Provide The Spurs With A Defensive Presence
Finally, the Spurs are missing a defensive anchor at the rim. Myles Turner is one of the top rim protectors in the entire NBA and that is exactly what San Antonio needs.
Through his first four and a half seasons in the league, Turner has averaged an impressive 2.1 blocks per game. Last season, Turner was in the running for Defensive Player of the Year with 2.7 blocks per game. San Antonio’s defense would take a huge leap forward if they acquired Turner.
There aren’t many moves the Spurs could make at the deadline that would fit their long-term needs. Turner, however, is exactly what San Antonio needs to re-tool rather than re-build.
