Shannon Sharpe makes strong statement about Ja Morant, Zion Williamson

Memphis Grizzlies rookie point guard Ja Morant has been having a tremendous rookie season so far. He has been proving himself to be one of the top young players in the NBA and is giving Grizzlies’ fans reason to be excited about the future.

Shannon Sharpe is one of the most bold analysts in the sports world and that continued on Undisputed on Wednesday. He went out and backed up a statement he made previously, saying that Morant will be better than New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson.

To say that this statement might be a bit premature would be an understatement. Morant has now played in 35 career games with the Grizzlies. Williamson, on the other hand, has not played this season due to an injury that he suffered before the start of the regular season.

So far this season, Morant has averaged 18.0 points per game to go along with 6.9 assists and 3.5 rebounds. He has shot 49.4 percent from the field overall and has knocked down 40.7 percent of his three-point attempts.

Sharpe may end up being correct, but this statement is going to send fans into a frenzy. Williamson’s return date has finally been set for January 22nd against the San Antonio Spurs. It will be interesting to see how he looks in his first 35 games and then make a comparison with Morant.

All of that being said, this statement is going to cause some debate. Do you agree with Sharpe, or do you think that it’s way too early to be talking like this?
