#2: Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers came into this year with title aspirations in the weaker Eastern Conference but have not gotten off to the start they would have hoped for. They have yet to win a road game and sit at 6-5 so far on the season.
The 76ers are led by forwards Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, two extremely young players who figure to be premier players in the NBA for years to come. Their other main offensive options are sharpshooter J.J. Redick and inconsistent 3-and-D forward, Robert Covington, but outside of this the offense has looked rather stagnant. Losing shooters Marco Belinelli and Ersan Ilyasova has definitely disrupted the flow of their offense from last year, even with rookie Landry Shamet really well thus far.
Adding J.R. Smith to the bench would provide the 76ers with another go-to option when the main players are off the floor. Helping Markelle Fultz transcend in his first full year in the NBA and playing alongside another 3-and-D forward in Wilson Chandler would immediately turn the 76ers bench into more of an offensive threat.
Similar to the Grizzlies, the 76ers could look to also get Korver in any deal they make. Korver would get to rejoin the team that drafted him and who he spent four years with and this would be the best 76ers team he was ever a part of. We see how effective Redick is shooting off screens, and Korver was the best in the league at doing just that a few short years ago with the Atlanta Hawks. This move just makes sense if the 76ers look to really compete.
