3. Part Ways With The Big Baller Brand
Unfortunately, this is not a joke and Magic and Pelinka need to consider trading their 2017 second overall pick and his dad. As much as the Lakers front office downplays Lavar’s comments and actions it’s safe to say they are tired of dealing with it.
During the 2017-18 season, LaVar was somewhat critical of Lakers head coach Luke Walton’s coaching and how he was losing the locker room. The Big Baller Brand CEO often tells the truth but has a very “creative” way of delivering it. Prior to the 2017-18 regular season, the BBB spokesman put a lot of pressure on his oldest son.
A lot of players took on LaVar’s rants as a personal challenge to shut down his son. Lonzo finished his rookie season averaging 10.2 points, 6.9 rebounds and 7.2 assists. Despite LaVar’s approval of James signing with the Lakers, the reality is Lonzo will only stay on the team if he can co-exist with LBJ.
One thing is for sure in order for this to work LaVar has to avoid bashing James, bringing unnecessary drama to the team and trying to coach from social media. When the Lakers make their return to the playoffs this season the BBB CEO needs to avoid entertaining the media at all cost. (Yes, the Lakers will make the postseason)
