5 NBA Players with Something to Prove During the Upcoming Season

2. Markelle Fultz, G, Philadelphia 76ers

The 2017 number one pick, Markelle Fultz was the consensus top prospect in his class. The Washington guard was an excellent athlete with elite handles, passing ability, scoring ability, and solid shooting ability. He performed well in the Summer League and all was looking up for the 76ers young trio. However, a mysterious shoulder injury caused Fultz to completely change his jump shot and miss much of the season. When he returned, he looked like a shell of himself and didn’t play significant minutes in the playoffs.

Due to his shooting ability, Fultz was supposed to be an excellent backcourt counterpart to Ben Simmons. However, his lack of shooting will see the two struggling to share minutes. With three below-average shooters on the floor in Simmons, Fultz, and Embiid, the Sixers will be hard pressed for spacing.

Many NBA fans are already calling Fultz a bust, albeit prematurely. Last season, he looked like a far cry from the star that he was touted to be. Fultz has a lot of opinions to change in 2018 and even solid play would change mine. Let’s hope the reports that Fultz’s jumper has been fixed is true.
