Take His Three-Point Percentage Up to 40 Percent
Finally, if there is one thing that the Lakers need to surround LeBron James with, it’s outside shooting. He didn’t have enough of that in Cleveland, but the Lakers are hoping that Kuzma can become the kind of lethal stretch forward threat that Chris Bosh was for James when he was with the Miami Heat.
Last season, Kuzma shot 36.6 percent from behind the three-point arc. That number may not be shabby, but improving that number to 40 percent would be ideal.
Los Angeles doesn’t have a lot of other shooting options around James. Lonzo Ball has not shown the ability to consistently knock down a deep-range jumper, while Brandon Ingram, Rajon Rondo, and Lance Stephenson are not known for their shooting ability.
Kuzma seems likely to be the No. 1 three-point shooting option for the Lakers in 2018-19. He must be ready for that role and improving to around 40 percent from beyond the arc is a reasonable goal for him.
