Brooklyn Nets: 3 Questions Following the 2018 NBA Offseason

Will They Trade Allen Crabbe or DeMarre Carroll?

Something has to give here! The Nets are paying Crabbe and Carroll a combined $33.9 million for very limited production. Last season, Carroll averaged 13.5 points and 6.6 rebounds while Crabbe averaged 13.2 points and 4.3 rebounds. Average numbers at best for the money they’re both receiving. One or both should be producing at a higher rate.

However, the Nets are in a great position with both players. Crabbe has a player option, and if the team struggles out the gate, the Nets could put him on the trade block for either a draft pick or two serviceable players.

The same goes for Carroll who will be a UFA at the end of the year. He was never quite the same player he was while with the Atlanta Hawks and there have been rumors that the Nets may be willing to part ways with him as they look to go younger for the future.

If the Nets find themselves out of contention, moving both of these players will give them a fighting chance for redemption in 2019. There are teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Golden State Warriors who may be in the market for Crabbe or Carroll. If the Nets can get a sweet deal for both, Marks must pull the trigger.
