Brooklyn Nets: 3 Takeaways from the 2018 NBA Offseason

They Maintained Future Salary Cap Flexibility

By getting rid of the combined salary of Jeremy Lin and Timofey Mozgov and buying out Dwight Howard, Sean Marks has left his team in a very desirable spot heading into next year’s offseason. The market is set to be loaded with stars and the only way to acquire said stars is with the appropriate cap space.

Brooklyn will undoubtedly be at the forefront of free agency next year with Hoops Hype reporting,

They could have somewhere between $35 million and $64 million in cap space to offer next summer with only Jarrett Allen, Caris LeVert and the recently re-signed Joe Harris on the books.

That number could change depending on possible extensions for D’Angelo Russell and Hollis-Jefferson. Either way, the Nets front office has left them with plenty of options to attack free agency next summer.

The rumors have already begun circulating that the likes of Jimmy Butler, Kyrie Irving and even Kawhi Leonard could make their way to Brooklyn nets off season. Whichever way Marks and his team choose to attack the next free agency you can’t help but think that something is brewing.
