Indiana Pacers: 3 Ways Myles Turner Must Improve in 2018-19

Let It Fly, Big Man!

Finally, Myles Turner has an excellent shot and needs to let it fly a bit more. Whether he is hesitant to take the shot because of the coaching staff’s offensive game plan or simply not knowing when to choose his shot, Turner needs to shoot more than 9.8 times per game.

Just a few short years ago, Larry Bird talked about Turner’s ability and stated that he had the potential to be one of the best in franchise history.

“He works hard. He wants to be great. He’s going to be great. To me, I think he’s got a chance to be one of the best players or maybe the best player (in the franchise’s history).”

Those comments from Larry Legend should still give the young big man confidence to this day. Let’s not forget that Turner is just 22 years old. If he had stayed at Texas, he would just be coming into the NBA.

Turner has shown the ability to shoot at an elite level from mid-range and even stretch out to the three-point line consistently. He also has the ability to put the ball on the floor. Those are tools that he needs to use much more in 2018-19 than he has the last couple of seasons.

Indiana will be relying on Turner to step up offensively this season and fans should expect to see him do just that.
