Indiana Pacers: 3 Ways Myles Turner Must Improve in 2018-19

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Post Moves and Post Strength

First of all, let’s make it clear that Myles Turner is not completely to blame for his lack of post scoring. Indiana has not put him in the post much and the Pacers’ guards were not able to get him the ball down low when he did have position. That being said, when he did get the ball in the post, there were some issues.

Turner has struggled with strength in the post throughout his young career. He has been working out hard this offseason to improve that are of his game.

As for his post moves, Turner has a deadly step-back jumper that he uses often. In addition to that, however, Turner needs to get a bit more creative with his back to the basket. Adding a consistent jump hook might just do the trick.

While this area of Turner’s game is not horrible, it could use improvement. For him to take the next step as a scorer, developing his ability in the post is a must.
