Portland Trail Blazers: 3 Takeaways from the 2018 NBA Offseason

Seth Curry Is a Major Bench Addition

While no major splash was made by the Trail Blazers this offseason, the team did make a move that will end up being one of the top underrated moves of the year. Seth Curry was their biggest offseason addition and he will be a big pickup for the Blazers coming off the bench.

Curry missed all of the 2017-18 NBA season due to injury, but back in 2016-17 Curry showed flashes of being a top-notch shooter and capable scorer.

In the 2016-17 season, Curry ended up averaging 12.8 points per game to go along with 2.7 assists and 2.6 rebounds. He shot 48.1 percent from the floor overall and knocked down a sizzling 42.5 percent of his three-point attempts. Those numbers show exactly why Curry will be a major pickup for the Blazers.

At 27 years old, Curry is heading into his prime and will finally receive the opportunity that he needs. He won’t play starting minutes with Lillard and McCollum ahead of him in the rotation, but he will have a big role as the primary scorer and shooter in the second unit.

Portland obviously feels that Curry is going to be a big part of the puzzle and will make a leap forward next season past anyone’s expectations.
