Knicks’ fans, look away. Let’s take a look at New York’s most famous NBA franchise over the last 20 years. They have been far and away the worst franchise in basketball over that time. From top to bottom, New York has simply not managed to get it right. Would pursuing Fred VanVleet in free agency be the right call?

The Knicks have not made the playoffs since the 2012-2013 season. This was also their last winning season. Additionally, New York has not won even 30 games in a single-season since 2017. This is because of the executives they have had run the team, poor head coaches on the sidelines, and horrible decisions during drafts and free agency.

It seems as though the Knicks finally made a good decision. Tom Thibodeau is the new head coach in New York. This was the correct hire for the Knicks. They need a voice in the locker room from someone who has had success as a head coach. It is now time to get some good players on the roster.

The Knicks failed in free agency last season and did so in a big way. This group is not as strong but there are some quality players worth going after. Fred VanVleet immediately comes to mind and would be an alternative to Chris Paul if that wasn’t the route they wanted to go.

With that being said, let’s take a look at three reasons the current Toronto Raptor would workout with the Knicks.
