Dwane Casey insists that Pistons G Derrick Rose should be an All-Star

Derrick Rose has seen his career resurrected from the dead over the past couple of seasons. After suffering tons of injuries that completely derailed his MVP career, he turned things around last season with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He used that big season with the Wolves to sign a lucrative deal with the Detroit Pistons this offseason in free agency.

With the Pistons, Rose picked up where he left off last season. Not only has he been a major impact player for Detroit, he has forced his name into the All-Star conversation.

Detroit head coach Dwane Casey has been insistent that Rose should make the All-Star Game. In a quote shared by NBA.com, Casey once again talked about why Rose should be an All-Star this season.

“Derrick Rose is an All-Star,” Casey said. “He’s getting where he wants to go with the ball. He’s picking double teams apart. I’m going to tell everybody – he should be an All-Star.”

On the season in 37 games and just three starts with the Pistons, Rose has averaged 18.3 points per game to go along with 5.9 assists and 2.4 rebounds. He has shot 50.3 percent from the field overall and has knocked down 31.8 percent of his three-point attempts.

Those numbers by themselves show why he has captured national attention. Once considered to be one of the NBA’s best players, Rose is back to being his exciting self on the court. Whether he makes the All-Star game or not, Rose is back and fans are loving it.

Expect to hear a lot more about Rose to the All-Star Game in the coming days. He has a big bandwagon of people campaigning for him. It will be interesting to see what ends up happening when the teams are chosen.
