Portland Trail Blazers: 3 X-Factors For The 2018-19 NBA Season

Neil Olshey Must Make Roster Adjustments

If the Blazers get off to a slow start to the season, then Neil Olshey will come under fire. Since the departure of Aldridge, the Blazers have yet to find a suitable PF to fill his shoes. Playing Aminu at the 4 has provided very little and with the talent that was available this offseason, Olshey struck out.

Maybe the Blazers should think about parting ways with one of their backcourt stars if the haul is right. However, wouldn’t it be smarter to trade away a package that includes Aminu, Mo Harkless, and Evan Turner for a small forward and some firepower off the bench? The Blazers are not looking for another superstar, what they need is the proper role players to accommodate the stars they have.

The season will not only come down to the play on the floor but what goes on in the front office. So far, Olshey has allowed talented players to slip through the cracks while the teams the Portland Trail Blazers are trying to beat are snatching them up. The Blazers did get the 3 seed last year in the West, but it’s difficult to see them getting that again this year, and Olshey must show more urgency. Something has to change.
