Trade 3: Vucevic to the Milwaukee Bucks
Orlando Magic Receive: John Henson
Milwaukee Bucks Receive: Nikola Vucevic
Why the Magic Would Do It: In this trade, the Magic would receive a younger center in Henson who still has some upside. He is a capable starter who can hold the fort, while Bamba develops and then once he does, Henson would be a solid back up. Henson is also a better rim protector than Vucevic and could help the Magic’s defense. He makes more sense for their timeline as well.
Why the Bucks Would Do It: The Bucks have a bit of a logjam at center with Henson, Tyler Zeller, Brook Lopez and Thon Maker. Getting Vucevic wouldn’t solve the logjam, but he would instantly become their best center. He could start or come off the bench, and he would give the Bucks some much-needed shooting.
Losing Henson wouldn’t matter much as both Lopez and Maker are solid backups. Vucevic should be able to play with Maker in some monster lineups as well. The Bucks are trying to win now, and Vucevic helps them do that. If it doesn’t work out, he only has one year left on his deal, while Henson had two, so they get rid of a little long-term salary as well.
